" alt="LBI Waterfront Real Estate" />Surf City was the first town on LBI to receive beach replensihment from the Army Corps in 2006. The area was eroded from several nor’easters and qualifies for emergency rehabilitation. The Surf City/Ship Bottom section was approved and it is designed to restore the beach to pre-storm conditions.
The project in Surf City will include 200,000 cubic yards of sand along the coastline with additional beachfill allotments. The Army Corps expects to award a contract for this work in the next several weeks.
Hopefully, the fiscal year 2012 budget process will include funds for another project on LBI. Long Beach Township’s first project, when funded, will be the first mile in Brant Beach and the Township is ready.
